100kW PV + Enphase Microinverters
zero export | minimum import | network protection
Full utilisation of the roof space was required for this installation.
Microinverters were chosen over centralised string inverters because they provide the optimum Return on Investment (RIO), improved safety and ease of maintenance and upgrade.
Solar modules have a negative temperature coefficient which means that as the temperature of the solar module increases the performance reduces proportionally. The solar modules at the edge of the array outperform the solar modules embedded within the array because they are exposed to cooling breezes. If string inverters were used the performance of the array would be determined by the least performing solar module.
There is no high DC voltages in the systems which has the potential to cause fire. This is a major safety benefit for the college.
