SP Pro Series 2i Inverter

Off-Grid and Grid-Connect bi-directional inverter-charger for residential, commercial and industrial applications

SP Pro Series 2i inverters provide true transition from a hybrid (grid-connect) to an off-grid system (and vice versa) with a simple on-site setting change.

The SP Pro Series 2i can be configured as one or more of the following:

  • Grid connected solar with energy storage (hybrid solar for homes and businesses)
  • Full Off-Grid solar system with energy storage (homes, businesses, caravans, motorhomes and boats)
  • Grid connected battery backup system supplying power during power outages (UPS)
  • Grid Support – Boost supply capacity, peak lopping, load shedding, quality of supply, smart grid.

Compatible Batteries

The SP PRO Series 2i supports several battery technologies including Lead Acid, Lithium and several Managed Batteries.

Applications

Grid connected Solar

SP PRO inverters can be used with solar and energy storage to provide a grid connected solar hybrid system.  The solar can supply the loads during the day and charge the battery for use at night.

For solar systems without energy storage (battery) a Selectronic certified grid tied inverter can be used.  This will allow for a Selectronic SP Pro inverter and battery to be easily added in future when energy storage is required.

Off Grid Solar

SP PRO inverters have the ability to fully control a battery system, generator and solar to provide continuous 24HR power. For homes that are not connected to the grid, caravans, motorhomes or marine vessels

Backup Power

SP PRO inverters can be used with energy storage to provide back up power for grid connected home and businesses (UPS)

Grid support

Boost customer supply capacity

In “fringe of grid” situations, a property may require more power than the grid can supply, but upgrading lines may not be practical or economical. In this situation an SP PRO is placed at the customer’s premises with a battery bank.
When the supply limit is exceeded additional energy will come from the SP PRO via the batteries, and when load is decreased grid energy will be used to charge batteries again if required. Renewable Energy sources can provide power to recharge the batteries, feed this into the grid or to be used onsite.

Boosting Grid supply capacity

Using an external controller, the SP PRO can be commanded to feed stored battery energy at any power factor into the grid, augmenting supply capacity. Commanding the SP PRO is a specialist feature made available under a signed agreement.

Peak lopping

An SP PRO strategically placed within a network can be programmed or commanded to cap the peak demand to a known limit, preventing line overload and the associated costs due to loss of supply. Use of this feature allows a fast and cost effective means of increasing network capacity, either temporarily or permanently. Consequently line utilisation is both predictable and controllable.

Load shedding

It is often required that a branch line will need to be isolated for safety, maintenance or load shed purposes.
Properties or sub divisions with SP PRO support will enjoy an uninterrupted power supply, thus demanding a lower priority response. This gives greater flexibility and efficiency to line restoration crews.

Quality of supply

Exposure to liability claims is a major concern in today’s business world. Quality of supply can be maintained regardless of line irregularities with the rapid detection and islanding capabilities of the SP PRO.

Smart Grid

Future developments will see the SP PRO integrate within the AMI infrastructure via industry standard protocols. With so much flexibility within the SP PRO and incorporated into a Smart Grid, the possibilities of control and integration into smart storage systems are numerous.
Adding Renewable or Alternate Energy sources A line supported by an SP PRO can easily be further augmented with the inclusion of any type of Renewable or alternate energy source. Solar panels can be integrated via the DC or AC coupling method.

Remote Monitoring

Select.live is a remote monitoring solution that allows review of real-time data from the SP PRO system

A small, lightweight, wall-mounted Select.live unit connects to an SP PRO to enable the user to access the Select.live web-based portal, which can be accessed on any internet connected PC, iOS or Android device.  With Select.live installed with the SP Pro inverters, the performance of the solar system can be monitored remotely on phone, computer or tablet.  This allows you to easily answer any questions a customer may have and easily assess performance.

Connect up to 12 SP Pro inverters with Selectronic Powerchain

Link up to four SP Pro’s per phase, for off-grid or grid-connected systems.  Create new systems or upgrade existing installations with up to 240kW of SP PRO power and 480kW of Managed AC Coupled solar.

Powerchain systems provide stable, non-fluctuating voltage and frequency, and can deliver up to 5.76MWh of battery energy per day!

Powerchain is simple to install, with “plug and play” linking between SP PRO inverters, without the need for hubs, current shunts or complex wiring.  Just download the latest version of SP LINK now to get Powerchain capability.

Brand New Manufacturing Facility

Last year during the COVID Pandemic, Selectronic recorded record sales and entered a new phase of growth with the move to a new, larger premises in Wantirna South. The building incorporates a brand-new manufacturing facility using world leading technology and resources, R&D department, customer service department and a new “Centre of Excellence” that includes a visitor centre, training facility and broadcast and film studio, as part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring best practice system installations across Australia.

Off Grid Case Study

Licola Wildness Village, Victoria Australia

Since 1969, the Licola Wilderness Village and township owned by the Lions Club, has relied on diesel generators for power. At a cost of nearly $190,000 a year, the cost and environmental factors led to the installation of a huge solar system with battery storage.
